Having experienced weight problems before, his two books, Discover Your Thinner Self and If Not Now, When are about his inspirational journey. Through his work, he wishes to help others make a positive change in their lives.

Healthy Weight Reduction and Weight Loss Myths

David’s Weight Loss Journey

  • David used to be health-conscious when he was younger. However, due to life problems, his weight started to creep upon him.
  • He decided to lose weight but found it hard to maintain it, often reverting to his old habits.
  • He finally decided to lose weight the right way after his doctor told him he has a 95% chance of having a heart attack.
  • David then decided to share the things he learned after observing that there’s a lot of misinformation and myths about weight reduction.

Weight Loss Myths

  • One of the most famous myths about weight loss is reducing calories and moving more will equate to weight loss. There is a difference between healthy calories and empty calories.
  • Depriving yourself of proper nutrition will force your body to go into starvation mode, which fights to keep the weight.
  • Eliminating carbohydrates will result in weight loss is not entirely true. Complex carbohydrates are right for you.
  • Another famous myth is people think if they exercise more, they’ll reduce weight more. People tend to underestimate the calories they consume and overestimate the calories they burn.
  • Orange juice is not all healthy. It is better to squeeze and eat real fruits.
  • Not all salads are healthy. The dressings loaded with fats and other toppings turn salads into an unhealthy meal.

The “Bliss Point”

  • The “bliss point” is a term coined by Howard Moskowitz, who was hired by the food industry to engineer people’s cravings for food for 30 years.
  • Processed foods are alarmingly increasing today.
  • Foods in grocery stores contain chemicals to stop spoilage. These may hurt your health when you consume them.
  • People will be shocked to know the ingredients of what they are eating if they read the label on the food products.

Sourcing Your Food

  • Pastured eggs are a better option. These eggs came from hens that forage their food, which makes them more natural than cage- or range-free eggs.
  • Chemical fertilizers used in soil nowadays aren’t helping your body. The land is a living, breathing organic thing that you have to seed. The healthier the ground, the more robust the crop you have.
  • Some of the fish that people consume nowadays have so much plastic in their system.

Diet and Exercise

  • Queen’s University conducted a study that says that exercise is a terrible way to lose weight. It’s all diet.
  • However, David emphasizes that exercise improves your brain; therefore, it enhances your thinking and your judgment.
  • A healthy person makes healthy decisions.
  • Specifically, for weight reduction, it’s almost entirely diet.

Living in a Food Desert

  • There’s just a small percentage of people that invest in the prevention of diseases caused by an unhealthy lifestyle.
  • He quoted Dr. David L. Katz, who said that the quality of life in years is more important than the years in life.
  • One of the reasons society is having this problem is due to the perversion of health sciences. A lot of them have been bought out by major corporations like Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The studies are compromised.
  • A food desert is a place where it’s like a desert. There’s no water, no real food. Just like these days, everywhere you go, there’ll be fast food joints, meals in a box, etc.
  • Cardiovascular, respiratory, blood and endocrine disorders are preventable through regular exercise and healthy food.

Habits for a Healthy Lifestyle

  • Reduce and eliminate soda and diet soda. Replace fruit juices with pure drinking water.
  • Green tea, herbal tea, and black coffee are good for you.
  • Use MCT oil; it’s from coconut oil. It will help your body quickly burn visceral fat.
  • Alongside MCT oil, a quarter teaspoon of ground cinnamon and half a teaspoon of raw honey mixed in a drink is also good.
  • The cinnamon acts as a metabolism booster. Raw honey also has health benefits.
  • Eat slower and use smaller plates.
  • Have adequate sleep. Drink more water and prepare a healthy meal.
  • Eat more fruits like berries, watermelon, and pomegranate.
  • Choosing food that is unhealthy is not all just for convenience; sometimes, people don’t know healthy foods.
  • Don’t overtrain yourself.
  • Words are powerful. Always ask yourself, “What can I do to eat healthier?”

On Intermittent Fasting

  • If used properly, it has benefits. If not, it’s detrimental.
  • People are doing intermittent fasting while not recognizing it.
  • Intermittent fasting is good for body maintenance and health maintenance.
  • When reducing weight, however, there are different things you can do to modify your eating behaviours and daily routines.

Reducing Weight That Lasts

  • Do it gradually so that it will be sustainable.
  • Eat slower and in smaller portions.
  • Eat holistic foods, mostly plant-based.
  • Little things add up. Small habits always matter.
  • Create new patterns that are enjoyable for you so that you don’t feel deprived.
  • Make a healthy choice and decide to make simple changes.

The Hows of Pinterest Marketing — With Tammie Jones

Trends are not constant. In an ever-changing industry, businesses need to ensure that they are always on the top of their game, and their content remains relevant to customers. You can achieve this through the right marketing strategy, coupled with the proper tools and platforms to meet your business goals.

In this episode, Tammie Jones shares her journey as a marketing strategist. She talks about how she has helped her clients sell their products online and build the right email list using Pinterest. She also gives powerful insights on how to develop the ideal content for Pinterest and ensure that it reaches a wide range of audiences. Join us and learn how you can use Pinterest to level up your marketing.

About Our Guest:

Tammie Jones is a marketing strategist who specializes in Pinterest for business owners, entrepreneurs, social media agencies, and content creators. She helps clients plan and implement a strategy for Pinterest to gain brand awareness, find the best leads for email lists, and increase the sales of product owners.

Using Pinterest as a Marketing Platform

Tammie’s Beginnings

  • She started as a manager at Walmart and was involved in sales and marketing.
  • Her degree in Architecture was an upper hand. She was exposed to designing houses and similar projects.
  • She quit her job and decided to start her agency.
  • She enrolled in a course teaching how to do Pinterest. Tammie started with cold messaging Etsy shops.

Challenges and Solutions in Entry Level Pinterest Marketing

  • The biggest challenge was overcoming the mindset blocks.
  • Getting rid of the clients that were not serving her in value
  • Focus on valuable clients.
  • Read books on cybernetics and other books about achieving success in business.
  • Retrain your mindset by taking out negative thoughts.
  • Have a solid support system.

Pinterest as a Platform

  • Pinterest is a search engine.
  • Just use good SEO and keywords, and people will find you.
  • Make sure that you are using the correct words for searchability.
  • You need quality graphics to get a potential customer's attention.

Myths and Facts About Pinterest

  • Just like every platform, it continually changes.
  • One of the misconceptions is that you need to have strong impressions and a lot of followers so that your website will have traffic.
  • The trend in social media, which is having more likes and more interaction, doesn't necessarily translate to Pinterest.

The Demographics of Pinterest

  • It's not only for certain industries
  • However, some specific sectors challenged her because of the marketing efforts that did not translate into sales, such as trucking and men's swimwear and clothing company.
  • She had a hard time because there weren't enough men on Pinterest.
  • However, you can employ strategies for almost any industry.

Core Strategies in Utilizing Pinterest

  • Consistency in pinning every single day
  • The client's goal should be the basis of your strategy. Begin with the end in mind.

Building an Email list vs. Getting Sales

  • Getting Sales: Drive on whatever the products are (e.g., get as many pictures of the product and put out fresh content)
  • Email list: You need to have several leads (e.g., have some freebies related to your target people to have them sign up)

Pinterest for Marketing

  • Avoid "spamming" Pinterest with all the photos of your products.
  • Have 3–5 interval days or even more for putting out your product to the relevant boards.
  • Be part of group boards and Tailwind Tribes.
  • Aside from spacing your pins, you should also use different images
  • You need to find similar but not competing content to share to give your followers more value.
  • Give your audience a lot of things to look at on your page, not just your content.
  • Utilize a scheduler in sharing content. Do not schedule for more than three weeks because trends change quickly.
  • Keep on top of your analytics.
  • Take advantage of viral content.

Pinterest and Other Social Media Platforms

  • "Do not put all of your eggs in one basket." If one of the platforms shuts down, you will lose your audience.
  • Spread out your marketing. If you stay on one platform, you are not going to reach a wider audience.
  • Have good leads and build your email list.
  • No matter what medium you use, it will take a lot of planning and strategy.

Paid Ads in Pinterest

  • Pinterest offers to show your content in the search tab and browse section.
  • You can also use an email list and target the people who have already parked to purchase. You can also target lookalike audiences.
  • Utilize keyword research.
  • You can set up through Google Analytics/UTM a code that you can attach to each pin for tracking.

Pinterest as a Powerful Search Engine Tool

  • You also do predictive searching like Google.
  • It can provide you sets of keywords that are performing well by giving you exactly how many clicks each word is getting and where the keyword showed up.
  • Look for keywords every day.
  • You need to be at the forefront because customers are everywhere.

Building Your Success Profile with Brian Wright

Some people spend their entire lives working their way to success. We often wonder how successful people made it to the top and what their mindsets are. Being a high-achiever requires the most of what you can give and the best qualities you can develop.

In this episode, Brian Wright of Success Profiles Radio joins us to share the lessons he acquired from talking with high-achievers, as well as his personal experiences in attaining success. He emphasizes the importance of gratitude and building the proper network for your business. If you want to learn how you can stay motivated, be inspired, and lead others—fitting of a high-achiever—make sure that you listen to this podcast!

About Our Guest:

Brian Wright is the host of Success Profiles Radio and publisher of Success Profiles Magazine. Over the years, he has interviewed world-class achievers. Through Success Profiles and his own experience, Brian seeks to inspire, motivate, and educate aspiring entrepreneurs to become a higher version of themselves. Brian is also the author of three books, and he ghostwrites books for clients.

Brian's Insights on Success Profiles

Brian's Beginnings

  • He learned what it's like to run a business on his father's farm.
  • He left graduate school for some time because of burnout and tried various jobs, such as working in a call center, selling insurance, and resumé writing.
  • In 2012, he started his radio show while still working a full-time job. And just in 2017, he went full time.
  • Brian warns that if you don't like what you're doing, and you become good at it, that's what you'll keep getting.

Going Full-Time and Running Your Own Business

  • For Brian, the greatest challenge is whether he could make a full-time income.
  • Unlike people who grew up with an entrepreneurial background, it was a huge paradigm shift for someone used to working for other people.
  • You must keep planting the seeds while you're harvesting because if you don't, the cycle will start again.

The Commonalities of Successful People

  • They don't give up, no matter how hard the situation is.
  • They seek mentoring relationships to find out what they need to know.
  • It is vital to invest in yourself first before asking someone to invest in your programs.
  • They have positive mindsets, and they stick around people who will lift them.

The Importance of Collaboration

  • The force of the average is strong.
  • People who think in terms of competition have a scarcity mindset.
  • On the other hand, those who have an abundance mindset realize that the pie is infinite.
  • It's far-fetched to immediately become business partners with someone you meet at a networking event.
  • You have to build relationships.

Why Should You Maintain Gratitude

  • If you're not thankful for what you have, you will not be given something more significant to be grateful for.
  • There is always something to be grateful for, even in adverse situations. However, you also have to learn your limits.
  • Listing down 100 things that you're thankful for and reading that as often as possible will make a significant shift in your mind.

Advice for People Who Are Struggling

  • There's no way to know how the chain of events will unfold.
  • You have to be aggressively thankful for what you have and take nothing for granted.
  • Make an effort to lean on the people who are close to you.
  • When you keep your mind occupied with other things, the wrong things will not hold you at the same time.

The Greatest Mistakes That Hinder Success

  • Thinking that you know it all
  • Thinking that you don't need other people's advice
  • Once you reach a certain level of success and notoriety, there will be a lot of noise around you that you will need to filter. You have to stay focused on your goal.

Knowing When to Say 'No'

  • Don't be afraid to say 'no.'
  • In the beginning, you're ready to say 'yes' to a lot of things because you're trying to build momentum.
  • However, once you’re established, you can say 'no' to a few things.
  • Sometimes, people will say 'no' to test you—they test who will follow up and who is serious.

The Future of Collaboration

  • Brian thinks that the more we rely on technology, the more secluded we're going to be.
  • Relying on technology affects the way you interact with people when you see them face-to-face.

Establishing Your Online Business and Social Media Branding with Dr. Buck Parker

Establishing a business has come a long way from traditional print media and newsletters to online platforms and social media. As an entrepreneur, it is essential to build a successful online brand to reach your target audience effectively. By leveraging the power of social media branding, not only would you build a network of following, but you could also create strategic partnerships with other entrepreneurs.

µIn this episode, we'll discuss the most effective ways to run an online business with Dr. Buck Parker, a surgeon and e-commerce entrepreneur. He also shares his experience and insights on the evolution of online market trends. If you want to know how you can optimize online branding, don't forget to tune in to the podcast!

About Our Guest:

Dr. Buck Parker is an emergency and trauma surgeon in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2007, he started an e-commerce business while in residency. Since then, Dr. Buck has established his name and brand on YouTube and Instagram with over 200,000 followers and subscribers. He helps high school and college students learn how to stay focused and motivated long-term in studying.

Dr. Buck's Insights on Establishing Your Online Business and Social Media Branding

Doctor Turned Entrepreneur

  • His family of business owners influenced him. Even while still in med school, building a business was always in the back of his mind.
  • During his research year in residency in 2006, he started researching about online businesses and e-commerce stores.
  • He stumbled upon ebooks for sale and took inspiration from it, spending about six months researching and building his website.
  • He optimized email marketing and used Google AdWords to market affiliate products.
  • The product was in demand at that time, so his competitors spent more money on their marketing. He slowly drifted out with the changing environment.

Taking It to Social Media

  • When he finished his residency, he released his weight-loss course.
  • When he was cast on a TV survival show, people from all over the world were asking him information about being a doctor.
  • It gave him the idea to take it to social media. Within nine months, he gained a following of about 100,000 on Instagram and nearly 50,000 subscribers on YouTube.
  • He then realized that he could monetize it.
  • He built a video course on how to study effectively for students, especially those who want to get into medicine.

Phases and Milestones

  • In the beginning, he did his own SEO by writing articles and creating backlinks. He also did personal ads.
  • The first phase helped him understand how everything works together. So when he hires someone, he knows whether they’re doing a good job or not.
  • Then, the second phase is learning that you can’t be an expert at everything.
  • The third phase is realizing you can’t do everything alone; you can’t go big without strategic partners.

The Power of Social Media Branding and Influencers

  • The best thing you could do with your money is to have influencers promote your products.
  • This strategy helps build your brand’s reputation.
  • He explains that it is a “slippery slope” because some influencers don’t know their value. If you do it right, however, it can be powerful.

The Biggest Mistakes in Running an Online Business

  • The mindset of doing everything on your own.
  • You have to make mistakes and learn from other people.
  • Trying to focus on too many things.

The Future of Online Businesses

  • In the next 5 to 10 years, Dr. Buck thinks that there would be a lot more “sneaky marketing.”
  • Marketing would be more personalized and specific to a niche or a market.

Being a Doctor and an Entrepreneur

  • He looks at patient experience, like selling in customer service.
  • Some surgeons don’t like his channel because it seems too raw for them. However, Dr. Buck says it’s his way of speaking to his market.

Habits to Success

  • Learning is lifelong.

  • “Nobody’s successful at anything they don’t like.”

You can reach Dr. Buck on Instagram. Subscribe to his YouTube channel to learn more about what he does!

  • He founded Phatman Clothing Company.

Consignment

  • He began to sell his clothes through consignment.
  • He will leave the clothes with the store owners to sell in their store

Building His Business as a Young Entrepreneur

  • He started by making clothes and bringing them to school.
  • He initially made a dozen t-shirts and increased production after selling them.
  • At the same time, he's also an amateur snowboarder. While travelling and meeting up with his fellow snowboarders, he offers his products to sell in their stores.

  • He needed a place and a store, so he wanted to open Phatman Boardshop. He needs to raise $70,000, and his mom offered their house as the collateral.
  • At age 18, he opened the company. He was able to pay off the loan in five years.

  • Chris was able to open test pilot stores, as well as two skateparks while being a financial advisor and having a different set of responsibilities.

Keeping Up With the Challenges

  • They built their personal brand for the target market.
  • The customers also wanted the lifestyle their brand portrays.
  • Keep doing the things you love to do.

Developing a Culture With Rituals

  • Their products were a part of the culture.
  • The culture they started was spread out to all the skateparks and not just contained in their store.
  • When you create a culture and portray and live the lifestyle others want, customers will be attracted and buy your product.
  • Their culture built everything about their business.

Running the Business

  • He paid his employees and managers well.
  • He had a good bonus program as an incentive.
  • His goal was not just to accumulate money but to accumulate it to reach their goals as a company.
  • He continually developed his skills as well as his employees.
  • He is a visionary and a big dreamer.

His Greatest Challenges and Overcoming Them

  • The Great Recession in the US greatly affected his business.
  • He had to sell his store, but he sold it to a family of snowboarders that he competed against so that the dream and the culture will be kept alive.

Venturing Into Real Estate

  • He bought dilapidated buildings and rented them out.
  • Chris started loaning from banks and paying for the downpayment. Then, he renovated the units one at a time.
  • He had hit the debt and income ceiling, so he had to sell the 36 units that he renovated, including their dream house.
  • Upon an invitation, he attended a seminar on flipping houses. Chris then started going to seminars to gain financial knowledge.
  • He started investing in himself, eventually learned the secrets of the wealthy.
  • There is nothing wrong with the system, but there has been misinformation on how money works.

Flipout TV Show and Flipout Academy

  • He started a TV show called Flipout. However, the producer shut it off because it was too costly and “too outside the box.”
  • He gave it to a different producer and supported their creative idea.
  • Chris started an education company to coach people about flipping and building rentals.
  • He realized that his calling was to go out and teach people how truly money works.
  • The secret of the wealthy is not as complicated as how they make them seem. Chris is teaching simple principles.

Coaching the Mind with Mohammed Sheikh

The past can trigger us in so many ways. Low self-esteem is possibly linked to past experiences, and it might take a long time to recover from traumatic experiences. Some even take anti-depressants, but it still would not do any good. Learn how coaching your mind can be a helpful solution to this.

In today’s episode, Coach the Mind's founder, Mohammed Sheikh, will help us heal and remove our emotional baggage through our unconscious mind. Tune in to the show and learn how you can start to let go of what's holding you back.

About Our Guest:

Mohammed Sheikh trained under the approach of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), which is about the study of human experience. He also trained in hypnosis and began to deconstruct the unconscious beliefs and behaviours that create a person's experience. He started conducting workshops and later became a Certified Trainer with HeartMath Institute.

Mohammed’s Insights on Coaching Your Mind

Mohammed’s Beginnings

  • Mohammed was one of the top achievers in his grade school, but everything changed when he entered university.
  • He was always afraid and anxious to go to class.
  • Later, he was diagnosed with depression and dropped out of school.

Anxiety as a Lifechanger

  • Mohammed said that his depression made him understand a lot of things.
  • We should spend more time thinking about things that make us happy.

How to Change Ourselves: Coaching the Mind

  • Mohammed clarified that it is not motivation that would make you change; instead, it’s our principles and values.
  • We gain self-esteem when we accomplish something. However, if we fail, we should learn from that experience, and we will be able to grow.

Coaching Your Mind Through Meditation and Hypnosis

  • Mohammed compared meditation and hypnosis to a radio.
  • Meditation is all about being present. It is like having access to the volume of a radio.
  • With hypnosis, on the other hand, you can “program the station.”

Recreating Yourself as a Mental Image

  • Mohammed explained that what happened in the past is a distortion or a representation of the present.

How to Overcome Self-Limiting Beliefs

  • List down everything you want to do in life, whether big or small.
  • "I am" statements are already hypnosis, and if it is said with congruence, it becomes real.
  • Mohammed says that we need to access our creative or dreamer selves because that’s where the work happens.

How to Turn Your Passion into a Business

Starting Out

  • Austin uploaded his videos on Youtube to motivate people.
  • His subscribers later asked him to make custom workout programs.
  • Since it was taking much of his time and energy, he started charging $20 per program. He also began researching about marketing.

Getting Traction on Youtube

  • Fitness transformation videos, especially those that are motivational, will get a lot of views.
  • The biggest hit for Austin was his Beginner Home Calisthenics Workout Routine.

Overcoming Challenges and Learning About Passive Income

  • Austin realized that he could make money with his offers.
  • He also learned about passive income, realizing there’s a way to make money without having to work physically.
  • He marketed his business by setting up segmented email lists and sending out email automation sequences.
  • One key thing about passive income systems is that there must be something automatic, something that can sell to the masses 24/7.
  • Another is to teach and provide value to your audience. Lay the guesswork and cut the learning curve.

Selling by Back End Marketing and Telling Stories

  • Back end marketing is using different sales funnels for different content.
  • It segments people, depending on the problems they want to resolve.
  • Austin talks about how he was able to learn, his progress through time, and how he overcame his struggles as part of marketing.
  • Problems are a market for your business.

Advice for Starting Entrepreneurs

  • Make sure that there’s passion in your business, as well as consistency.
  • Know the reason why people follow and look up to you. If you can easily answer this, there shouldn’t be an issue.
  • Diversify your content.
  • Ask your audience for the content they want through comments.
  • Pick a niche, interest, or passion you can turn into a business when you’re starting.

Future of Online Businesses

How to Future-Proof Your Business with Micah Fraim

How do you future-proof your business as a new decade approaches? Check out the show notes of this episode with Micah Fraim, founder and owner of an accounting firm servicing some of the biggest e-commerce businesses. He shares his insights on the difference between online and offline business accounting so that you can future-proof your company in this ever-changing digital landscape.

About Our Guest

Micah Fraim is the owner of Fraim, Cawley & Company, CPAs. Some of his clients are the biggest and most successful online businesses, including Adam Linkenauger from Authority Online, Rocky Ullah from I Love Basketball TV, and Justin Willman from Ultimate Baseball Training. He is also a thought leader on social media, with millions of subscribers on YouTube and Facebook. He has been featured in major publications such as Time, Forbes, and NASDAQ.

Micah’s Insights on Future-Proofing Your Business

Starting Out in the Industry

  • His dad, a financial advisor, influenced his philosophy in handling money. He inspired him to get business as a course and accounting as a major.
  • He looked for security after he saw his father’s trials during the 2008 economic crisis; hence, he got a corporate job as a financial analyst at a big firm.
  • He decided to leave after 3 years to set up his own firm despite the risk of losing a big chunk of his income.
  • He started out with small clients in his area until he stumbled on his first big clients.
  • Word spread of his great work among the bigwigs.
  • Understanding the core of his clients’ business operations and giving useful management advice were his edge.

Challenge of Online Businesses

  • All e-commerce has seasonality dictated by the market or the nature of the business, resulting in difficult tax issues related to state policies.

How Accounting Helps Your Online Business Grow

  • Invest in experts to solve your legal and tax issues to avoid catastrophic consequences.
  • Delegate these matters to experts so that you, as the head of the company, can focus on crafting strategies that will efficiently generate sales, get new customers, and retain existing customers.
  • Regardless of how big you are, get expert advice on your taxes once you’ve established a business model that you’re confident in.
  • Don’t try to keep your own books. Set up consultations with an accountant to discuss your business needs and determine the right plans bespoke to your business.
  • Get a bookkeeping program to make sure all things are logged.
  • Learn to understand basic income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. This will enable you to spot opportunities and to assess your performance.

Common Mistakes of Business Leaders

  • It’s not about worrying over the smallest, day-to-day details. It’s about paying attention to reports and tracking your metrics and KPIs to reach sound business decisions and directives.
  • Don’t worry too much about the numbers. A leader’s mindset should be serving the public with their services and products. This way, you can have a stable base of customers and a source of income that will keep your business afloat for a long time.
  • It’s hard to face legal battles. Setting up preventative measures with the help of experts is critical to avoid your business losing too much from these battles.

Achieving Excellence: How Can Millennials Reach Their Full Potential? with Agostino Marengo

Millennials hold significant responsibility for our future in business. But in today’s fast-evolving world, how can we prepare for this future? Agostino Marengo, an executive coach for millennials, talks about how he helps them reach their full potential.

In this episode, Agostino expounds on the implications of what he calls “the Golden Rush Evolution” in the business field. In line with this, he discusses how we can face this evolution by following his four steps to achieving excellence. So are you interested in unlocking your full potential? Then make sure you check these show notes and listen to the podcast to find out more!

About Our Guest:

Agostino Marengo is a man of many talents. He is currently a university professor, mechanical engineer, and an executive coach for millennials. He has also dedicated his life to helping millennials who wish to pursue business, entrepreneurship, and other careers.

Agostino's Insights on Millennials and Their Full Potential

Agostino’s Beginnings

  • Agostino did not come from an entrepreneurial family.
  • He pursued multiple fields, such as mechanical engineering and computer science.
  • Losing interest in his previous fields, he became fascinated in history. Hence, he started his career as a professor and research in university by 2000.

Implications of the Golden Rush Evolution

  • The fourth and current industrial revolution is characterized by a high rate of technological advancements that occurred in a short amount of time.
  • There is a heavy emphasis on the use of the internet and artificial intelligence.
  • New jobs are now emerging, but universities are not yet prepared to teach these to students.

Facing the Evolution: Three Assets

  • First, Savoir Faire (Knowing How to Do) - learning what you can in university
  • Second, Savoir Vivre (Knowing How to Live) - focusing on networking to position yourself in your job market
  • Third, Savoir Dire (Knowing How to Be) - having the self-awareness to realize your passion

Hard Skills vs Soft Skills

  • Hard skills are what you learn within the university, like medicine and engineering. These are going to be quickly outdated
  • On the other hand, soft skills focus on relating to others, such as honesty and kindness. These will help us adapt to the changes brought by the golden rush evolution.
  • Soft skills, despite their importance, are often forgotten, especially in the age of social media.

Four Steps to Achieving Excellence

  • Search for your “Why.”
    • “Why will you do what you want to do?”
    • Find your passions.
    • Try everything you can do (e.g., gain experience, work for someone you admire).
  • Plan for your goals.
    • Formulate a time and action plan to develop your path to reach your goals.
  • Take action.
    • The most crucial step is to start walking.
    • Taking action also entails growth and improvement.
    • Refrain from overthinking whether your plan is good enough.
  • Be consistent.
    • A plan without consistency does not work.
    • Being consistent means putting in the same amount of effort and following through with your plans.

Habits You Need to Achieve Excellence

  • Be kind.
  • Enjoy everyday life.
  • Work on your uniqueness.
  • Create daily habits.
  • Believe in what you do.

Empowering Women: Starting a Purpose-Driven Business — With Eram Saeed

Women are driven by their passion and dreams. However, in the business world, passion is merely a starting off point. Eram Saeed, founder and host of From Heartache to Joy Global Summit, talks about her passion and how far this has taken her in her journey as a businesswoman.

In this episode, Eram wishes to empower other women by sharing her experiences and insights on what goes into starting a purpose-driven business. She also emphasizes maintaining a balance between finding your purpose and making sure your bills are paid. Are you interested in monetizing your passion? Check these show notes and listen to the podcast to find out more!

About Our Guest:

Eram Saeed is the owner and founder of From Heartache to Joy Global Summit, which launched in October 2012. Now, she dedicates her time helping women discover their divine gifts and utilize them towards purpose-driven businesses.

Eram's Insights on Purpose-Driven Businesses

Starting Her Business

  • During her childhood years, Eram was raised in Pakistan, where people consider the idea of girls pursuing a career as “useless.”
  • Despite excelling academically in her 14 years of education, she was encouraged by her parents to marry instead of pursuing an MBA.
  • She experienced a cycle of loss for almost 20 years. This included her second divorce, and she had to learn to create a business on her own.

Challenges Faced

  • Lack of information (e.g., do’s and don’ts, the failure rate of telesummits) regarding business since she wasn’t able to pursue a degree
  • Problems in her personal life (no career, 2–3 lawsuits including a divorce and bankruptcy case)

What Helped Her Succeed

  • Value absolute commitment. Never take no for an answer.
  • Disconnect from people who put you down. They can bring you down and mess with your mindset.
  • Understand the law of attraction. You attract what you are, so keep your hopes and energy high.

Letting Go of What You Know

  • She believes that “What you know is holding you back.”
  • Our perception of the world creates our reality. It affects the way we treat and go about life, which consequently leads to the reality in which we live.
  • There is no absolute truth, even if our ego makes us believe there is.
  • Questioning our own version of the truth is what can help us grow.

The Role of Passion

  • While going through a dark time in her life, Eram was inspired by positive messages she heard from telesummits about spirituality and consciousness.
  • She found her passion for sharing these messages with other people in similar situations.
  • It was a perfect opportunity for her to share her story while getting paid to do so.

How Do We Find Our Passion?

  • Remember that passions change, and entrepreneurship is NOT supposed to remain the same.
  • Passion is what guides you to your purpose, but it doesn’t have to be your purpose.
  • Take note of other elements: (1) what I love doing, (2) what I get paid for, (3) what I’m good at, and (4) what the world needs.

Investing in a Business

  • Focus on your natural gifts and how to monetize it.
  • It does not take a lot of monetary investment, but it does take grit and commitment.

Divine Feminine Business Model

  • Not a model of competition, consumerism, or capitalism
  • More balanced and wholesome
  • Features elements of collaboration (there is enough for everyone, about sharing), compassion, and ability to show emotion
  • Reason for success: transparency in the business, being vulnerable in front of my audience
  • Creating an atmosphere of TRUST

Traits of Successful Students in Business

  • Know they are born for leadership roles
  • Wish to enjoy the gift of purpose
  • Want to make an impact on the world

The Ins and Outs of Buying and Selling an Online Business — With Jaryd Krause

There are many ways to make money online. In fact, online businesses continue to thrive in today's time. From dropshipping to blogging to marketing, you can do everything on the Internet. However, what are the realistic ways that you can do to get started? One way is through buying an online business.

In this episode, Jaryd Krause joins us to talk about how buying and selling online businesses work. He shares the biggest challenges in this industry and how you can turn them into opportunities. If you're interested in the know-how of succeeding in website businesses, check out these episode highlights, and don't forget to tune in to this podcast!

About Our Guest:

Jaryd Krause is the founder and CEO of Buying Online Businesses Podcast, where he mentors people on how to make a profit on website businesses. He helps other aspiring clients to reach success just like he did. Jaryd used to work 60 plus hours per week as a plumber, and now he owns multiple online businesses.

Jaryd's Insights on Buying an Online Business

Getting Into Business

  • He took inspiration from people who were doing well with their businesses. Naively, he tried starting his own and failed a lot of times.
  • He then turned to the Internet and realized that he could buy online businesses.
  • He taught himself how SEO and digital marketing work.
  • Eventually, people started to find out about what he does and came to him for help.

The Biggest Challenges in Figuring Out How Online Business Works

  • He hated being a plumber and tried running away from it. More than that, he tried running away from his life.
  • He traveled around the world from 6 to 12 months. After that, he realized that he needed to set a goal in line with his love of traveling.
  • He first tried out travel blogging. Although he did make money, it was challenging. However, he learned more about how online business works.
  • He set up a drop-shipping store that led him to his aha moment.
  • If you're going to invest in anything, you need to do your due diligence.

Buying an Online Business

  • In business, what gets measured gets managed.
  • Even if you work with a good broker, you still have to contact the seller to know about the finance and other information about a business.
  • You can make an opportunity out of not knowing the numbers.
  • He suggests not to spend less than $10,000 range because otherwise, you don't get what you paid for.

Financing a Business

  • You can get financing from a finance broker who will help you get it from a bank or a lender.
  • You can also raise your capital.
  • The collateral varies from different lenders.

Creative Deals When Buying an Online Business

  • If you're going for a no-money-down deal, you're settling for a no-good business.
  • "It's better to buy a good business at a fair price instead of a good price."
  • He encourages creativity but not risky creative deals because you may end up with more hassle.
  • The value of the business is dependent on the business model.

Opportunities in Buying an Online Business

  • Sellers are prepared to take less money to give the business to an attractive buyer.
  • It's also dependent on how sellers think a buyer can flourish the online business.
  • Buyers need to understand how to manage the business by numbers and delegation.

Recommendations for Entrepreneurs

  • Website brokers enable you to see the numbers—its cost, how much it makes, its expenses, among other information. Brokers allow you to take a look at the business model.
  • The next step is honing due diligence.

When Do Things Go Wrong?

  • People buy businesses when they haven't verified the financials and looked at the merchant account and traffic.
  • Buyers should have full responsibility when they decide to buy or invest in a business.

Online Business Niches

  • There are some like real estate where they buy, renovate, grow, and flip the business.
  • There's a market where people use skills like marketing to attract potential clients.
  • There is also a business niche where everything is prepaid and set up.
  • Some sell personal blogs, and others have personal brands attached to the business.

The Way To Success

  • Making cash through a business has a lower investment risk.
  • Do less to make more; focus on what's working and make it better.
  • Don't expect success overnight.
  • Set goals and work towards them; pursue your passion.
